The president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, asks the central government for aid of 31.4 billion euros for the areas affected by Dana de Valencia. The Valencian leader announced this Monday that the first plenary session of the Consell, convened in an extraordinary manner six days after the floods, had accepted the request for the aid plan.
As specified, he asks the central government for a supplement to aid for cleaning homes and for the purchase of vehicles, a supplement to the Valencian inclusion income and a package for the reconstruction of infrastructure and industrial zones. The Generalitat Valenciana will invest an additional 250 million euros in the reconstruction of affected areas. This is a first aid program, the president stressed.
At the start of his appearance, and from outside Palau, a small group of people shouted “Mazón resign” when the president began to speak, knocking on the door. The police immediately expelled them.
This Monday, the Valencian Government and the central government formed the five working groups proposed by Mazón to deal with the crisis. In these groups, it has already been calculated that the damage to infrastructure alone is estimated at 2.6 billion euros. The Ministry of Labor has also strengthened the “work shield” for families.
