The government of Carlos Mazon awarded one of the first emergency contracts after DANA to the commercial company STV Gestión SL, a company in which its chief of staff and regional communications secretary, José Manuel Cuenca, worked for five years.
Minister Nuria Montes, known for her unfortunate statements on the relatives of the fatal victims of the strong storm, was responsible for signing the said contract, as revealed ‘elDiario.es‘.
In this way, said company took one of four lots of the emergency contract for the road cleaning and access service to industrial zones, benefiting from an amount of 290,000 euros.
José Manuel Cuenca is one of the people closest to the President of the Valencian Community. According to his official CV on the transparency portal GVA Oberta, Cuenca has worked between November 2017 and January 2023 at STV Gestión SL as responsible for communications and institutional relations. He then served as advisor to the popular parliamentary group of Corts Valencianes before taking a leadership position in the Mazón government.
STV Gestión SL, which holds numerous public contracts in Murcia and, to a lesser extent, the Provincial Delegation of Alicante, has assets of 76 million euros. Concretely, the emergency contract, by an allocation negotiated without advertisingjustifies the call for tenders due to the paralysis of activity in the industrial zones of the Horta Sud region after the passage of the DANA, “it is therefore essential and urgent to immediately clean and remove the obstacles that prevent the ‘access to businesses and industrial warehouses’. .
This prize was awarded by the Valencian Institute of Competitiveness and Innovation (Ivace)chaired by Councilor Nuria Montes. It is the only company to win this contract, worth a total of 1.1 million euros, that is not domiciled in the province of Valencia.
The first lot was awarded to GD Energy Services SAU (based in Paterna); the third to Magma Tatuajes SLU, a demolition company in Massalfassar; and the fourth in Pavasal.
The Ministry of Industry assured the aforementioned media that Mazón’s chief of staff “it has nothing to do with that” with the price, emphasizing that Ivace asked the companies for “immediate availability” of the trucks. The engineering company MS Ingenieros SLU will be responsible for auditing the work of STV Gestión.
