Dialectical review of the substance and form of the President of the Generalitat Valenciana popular Carlos Mazon left in a bitter general policy debate in the Cortes of Autonomy, softened with Vox, which until recently was a partner of the PP government. The turning point was reform of the regional financing system, with the temporary leveling fund supported by the entire PP and that Mazón promoted within the framework of training at the national level. In terms of initiatives, Mazón presented up to 30 proposals, including childbirth subsidies, exemptions and tax reductions.
Mazón offered outstretched hand to reach the meeting points on essential issues for the future of the Valencian Community. Above all, it is about asking the government of Pedro Sánchez for the temporary levelling fund until the reform of regional financing is completed.
The plenary session lasted almost 11 hours. Carlos Mazón’s initial intervention consisted of three parts: the chaotic situation observed, the achievements of the management and the proposals. And also an epilogue dedicated to the examination of the obstacles that the Spanish government opposes to autonomy. A “nothing”, as he described it, that finds its maximum expression in the question of regional fundingnot forgetting, among others, the 25 cancellations of the Tajo-Segura transfer.
“Branch of Sanchism”
From the PSOE he has only received criticism, but no proposals. A circumstance that Mazón clearly explained in his response to the socialist representative, showing blank pages of the speakers’ platform, since he did not express any doubt or clarification about the 30 announcements he made or about regional financing.
The socialists have made it clear that they do not support the proposal for a regional compensation fund. And from there, Mazón, first, and the trustee popular Juan Francisco Perez Llorca finally regretted that what was a Valencian PSPV had become a “branch of sanchismo“, which has lost all trace of justification. In terms of financing, The position of the Valencian socialists is that of Sánchez.
Lack of definition of compromise
Concerning Compromís, Mazón criticized Joan Baldoví for his uncertainty regarding funding. He recalled that no agreement reached by the Valencian nationalists with Sánchez on this issue has been respected. And he, faced with this, extended his hand.
He also recalled that all the agreements that allowed, for example, Compromís to have a seat at the Table of the Cortes, were with the PP and “in exchange for nothing”. Baldoví said that “there is an alternative and it is called Compromís”, to which Mazón responded with a dart: “Don’t be nervous. Smile, change has come.also to the municipality of Sueca. The latter is the town of Baldoví, where Compromís took over the government with the support of the PP.
Vox is open to reaching agreements
With Vox, the tone has been different, as both parties have shown points of agreement. They have governed together 52 of the last 60 weeks. Immigration is not only one of the points of disagreement at the moment, since Vox’s national guidelines on this issue are clear. But, outside of this issue, there is no sign of positions as conflicting as those with the PSOE or with Compromís. And the administrator of Vox, José María Llanos, has also been clear: “We will not agree on everything because I am not going to join the PP, but I think we can reach agreements.“.
Mazón praises the PP: “Blessed solitude”
The summary of Mazón’s speech came almost at the end. Specifically, in his response to the PP representative, Pérez Llorca.
