Moscow doubts that US President-elect Donald Trump will immediately lift sanctions against Russia after taking office. As Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with the Al Arabiya television channel: “I consider it unlikely that the president-elect, upon taking office, will immediately lift these sanctions.”
According to Medvedev, “in a certain sense, the lifting of sanctions does not meet the interests of various sectors of the American economy.” In particular, he said, Trump wants to limit Russian gas supplies to Europe and sell American energy resources there.
Speaking about the development of the Ukrainian military crisis, Dmitry Medvedev emphasized that all scenarios remain possible if tensions between Russia and Ukraine continue to rise.
“If the conflict continues to escalate, nothing can be ruled out.” – Medvedev emphasized.
According to the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council: “In fact, NATO member states are completely involved in this conflict. “They must admit that they are fighting on the side of Ukraine and not just supplying weapons and financial resources.”
“They are at war with the Russian Federation” – Medvedev stressed, adding that NATO and the West are “directly involved in military actions” because they present Ukraine with targets on Russian territory and manage actions related to the use of American or European missiles.
Dmitry Medvedev warned that new NATO aggression against Russia will not go unanswered.
