The Southern District Military Court sentenced two members of Shamil Basayev’s gang, Nazhmudin Dudiev and Ibragim Donashev* in the case of the terrorist attack in Chechnya in 2005.
As Channel Five reports from the courtroom, Dudiev was sentenced to 24 years in prison; he will serve his sentence in a maximum security colony.* sentenced to 25 years in a maximum security colony.
In July 2005, Dudiev, Donashev* and other members of the group kidnapped and killed a Russian in the Chechen village of Novo-Shchedrinskaya. The terrorists parked the car with the body of a man in military uniform next to residential buildings in the nearby village of Znamenskoye. The vehicle was packed with IEDs. One of the militants opened fire on a parked car to attract the attention of local residents. When people came running to the scene, the terrorists detonated the IED.
As a result of the terrorist attack, 15 people were killed and 36 others were injured.
