memes, mockery and threats against the judge who made the decision

Far from being resolved, the dispute between Brazil and Elon Musk has become in recent hours a bitter war with serious accusations, bans, fines and the launch of memes on social networks. Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes ordered the blocking of the social networkformerly known as Twitter, after an investigation against Musk himself for possible obstruction of justice in the South American country.

Investigations by Brazilian government agencies led them to ask X to delete certain accounts for “spreading disinformation and political propaganda.” The social network refused for months hiding behind freedom of expression, until the aforementioned judge warned that he would arrest the company’s head in the country to hold him accountable.

This move then triggered a domino effect that was almost impossible to stop at this point. Elon Musk announced the departure of X’s legal representation from the country while continuing to provide access to the social network without change. However, in the absence of a company official, the Supreme Court ordered to block any type of access to the service. Thus Brazilians could run out of X in the coming hours.

Continuing with this same domino effect, The Supreme Court then focused on StarlinkMusk’s other pillar in Brazil. This company is responsible for providing internet connection via a constellation of satellites that SpaceX conveniently places in orbit.

“Earlier this week, we received an order from Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes freezing Starlink’s finances and preventing financial transactions in the country,” according to a statement from the company. In the same release, they accused the judge that the order was based on an unfounded determination that Starlink “should be liable for the fines unconstitutionally imposed on X.”

Currently, and according to the company’s data, Starlink connects more than a quarter of a million customers in Brazil, “from the Amazon to Rio de Janeiro,” including small businesses, schools and emergency services. “The Starlink team is working hard to ensure that your service is not interrupted,” the statement concluded. Elon Musk’s next step was to announce that Internet connection service would be free throughout the country until the matter is resolved.

At the end of this article, the latest measure adopted by Brazil was to set daily fines for anyone who accesses X once the platform is closed. Specifically, 8,000 euros for people or companies that use a VPN for this purpose.

All these movements – occurring in just a few days – have provoked a significant reaction from Elon Musk through his profile on Brazilian bodies.

Added to this are personal mockeries of the judge in recent hours and the quotations of certain information that testify to his personal animosity. The escalation of tensions has led to Musk to accuse Alexandre de Morais of being an “evil dictator disguised as a judge” and threatening to publish documents that would accuse him of crimes.

“Tomorrow we will start publishing the long list of crimes of Alexandre de Moraisas well as the specific Brazilian laws he violated,” as Musk posted just hours ago. “Obviously you don’t have to follow US law, but you do have to follow the laws of your own country. “He’s a dictator and a fraud, not a judge.”
