Supermarket chain launches roasting campaign with local suppliers
Mercadona has launched the roast pumpkin campaign in its supermarkets, which runs from October to March, with the aim of acquiring a total of two hundred tonnes of this product grown in Valencia.
In collaboration with Valencian suppliers Picobello fruit And Ramafrutthe company chaired by Juan Roig offers roasted pumpkin in all the stores it owns in said province and in some centers of Basin And Teruel due to consumption habit.
As the company recalls in a press release, in 2023, Mercadona’s purchases in Spain reached a value greater than 27.142 million euros. In addition, the company supports various initiatives carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food related to local products.
Furthermore, Mercadona “defends fair commercial practices and has for years adhered to the Code of Good Commercial Practices in Food Contracts.” This voluntary agreement, “which represents a new step in the promotion of fair commercial practices”, is framed in the law on measures aimed at improving the functioning of the food chain and is promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) in collaboration with different associations throughout the national agri-food chain
