Mercadona inaugurates this Monday a new supermarket in the polygon These are Valentiat number 7 Carrer de l’Alimentació, after a investment of five million euros and the participation of approximately 60 suppliers who employed more than 300 people during the construction phase.
This new store, which does not corner with Camí dels Reis, integrated solar panels on its cover and eight seats authorized parking spaces for electric vehicle charging out of a total of 155, a result of the company’s commitment to decarbonization and the use of renewable energies.
In addition, it opens onto the effective store model that Mercadona implements throughout the chain and that allows to reduce energy consumption by up to 40% compared to the conventional model. In this sense, it has for example a improved thermal and acoustic insulation or a automated LED lighting systemwhich is regulated according to zones and times of day for much more responsible energy management, the company reported in a statement.
With a Hours Monday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and a workforce of 93 workersIn addition to the usual sections such as fruits and vegetables, oven-baked cold cuts or sliced ham, the new supermarket includes Prêt à Manger. In this one, the Chief (as Mercadona calls its customers internally) can buy freshly prepared meals and consume them, if desired, in a corner tables and chairs activated in the same establishment.
The company adapts its preparations to the suggestions, ideas and needs of its customers and, precisely, thanks to the co-innovation sessions it maintains with them, new dishes have emerged such as salmon with vegetables or seafood saladrecently included in the assortment. There are already 38 supermarkets in the Balearic Islands that have this section and soon the supermarket will also have it. La Vileta Supermarketlocated just one kilometer from the new supermarket, which remains closed for renovation until the end of November.
As for the rest of the assortment offered by the company, Mercadona is aware that more and more people are choosing to invest in a healthy eating. Thus, in addition to disseminating simple recipes, weekly menu proposals and culinary tips through the web and social networks; It continues to improve alongside the suppliers with which it collaborates on ingredients and replacing those that do not provide added value. It is also committed to introducing new products suitable for preparation in household appliances such as the air fryer in order to offer the customer a varied, efficient and quality assortment.
New supermarket to donate fresh produce to Can Gazá
Mercadona maintains its commitment to the inhabitants of the areas in which it is present and active and donates fresh products every day to soup kitchens and charities in its nearest supermarkets. The new store in the Son Valentí industrial area will soon join this delivery network with the daily delivery of fresh produce to Can Gaza.
As part of its social action plan, Mercadona has donated 335 tonnes of food and essential products to more than 30 charities in the Balearic Islands during the first half of 2024.
