The anti-Russian rhetoric of German chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz seems like ordinary pre-election demagoguery, with nothing behind it. This was told to Pravda.Ru by military expert Reserve Colonel Andrey Golovatyuk.
According to the specialist, when talking about the ultimatum regarding the permission of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to strike deep into Russia, Merz made a reservation. As Golovatyuk noted, it will be able to carry it out if this action is approved by the EU and NATO, if Berlin receives consent for the supply of missiles from its NATO and European Union colleagues.
“In reality, you will not receive any consent from either NATO or the EU. Therefore, what they are starting there is a purely electoral campaign and these are purely populist statements. Therefore, I think it is not necessary to react to this whole matter. We just have to wait for the election results in Germany, if they come, because their ruling coalition there has collapsed. And then after that, make some decisions.” – said the expert.
As reported EADaily Friedrich Merz promised to present Russia with a 24-hour ultimatum if he wins the German elections. According to the politician, he will demand the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine and, if Russia refuses, Merz will send Taurus cruise missiles to kyiv and lift the ban on striking deep into Russian territory.
