Mexican Nacho Cano Scholars Return Home After Completing Their ‘Training Period’

The Mexican scholarship students of the musical “Malinche”, by producer Nacho Cano, have already returned to their country without having filed a declaration, after completing their training period. “They have completed, as planned, their training period. Now, they will prepare the premiere of Malinche in Mexico at the beginning of next year,” said sources close to the project.

They also clarified that the scholarship holders were “willing and available” until the day of their departure “to testify before the judge of Nacho Cano’s defense,” but the statement in which they were summoned to testify, on August 29, was suspended.

In an appeal to the aforementioned court, it was requested that these statements be produced before the scholarship holders left Spain. It was indicated that the students would return to Mexico this Sunday, September 1.

This weekend it was announced that the students had filed a new complaint against the police officers at the Leganitos Street police station in Madrid for monitoring the process of summoning their witnesses and had asked the judge for a restraining order.

The students had already denounced the police on July 8 for “coercion, threats, falsification of documents and illegal detention”, facts which allegedly took place on June 27 during the hearing of their statements by the police.

According to the complaint, the agents investigated the students for six months “without informing the judge or submitting to judicial review” and continued the parallel investigation once the case was judicially adjudicated.

On July 30, the aforementioned court opened preliminary proceedings for the alleged commission of crimes against the rights of foreign citizens and crimes against the rights of workers.
