The delegate of the Government of Spain in Castile-La Mancha, Milagros Toulon, inaugurated this Saturday, in Toledo, the exhibition on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the creation of the Civil Guard Traffic Group. An exhibition which, as the government delegate pointed out, “offers a historical tour of the uniforms, technical means and vehicles used by agents over the decades”. During this event, the delegate highlighted “the 15% reduction in serious accidents compared to 2023 in Castile-La Mancha”.
The Government delegate was accompanied by the head of the 2nd Zone of the Civil Guard of Castile-La Mancha, Brigadier General Francisco Javier Cortes and the head of the traffic sector of the Civil Guard of Castile-La Mancha, Lieutenant Colonel Francisco Herrera.
In the exhibition, installed in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, you can see three four-wheeled vehicles (two SUVs and a passenger car); three motorcycles (two BMW R1250RTs and a historic Sanglas brand); alcohol and drug detectors, a cinemamometer and a drone; the uniforms of the Civil Guard Traffic Group and their evolution; and you can even enjoy a children’s circuit.
Miracles Toulon pointed out that the history of Civil Guard Traffic Group “is that of a commitment to road safety and the protection of people; and with this exhibition we bring closer the work of the Civil Guard in areas such as road safety, since its presence is vital to reduce accidents and save lives thanks to its rapid intervention; or by raising awareness and warning drivers about the importance of respecting the highway code, because it is the best tool to avoid tragedies.
915 traffic officers in the region
The Traffic Sector of the Civil Guard of Castile-La Mancha has a workforce of 915 agents, which have 231 four-wheeled vehicles, 190 motorcycles and 3 vans; in addition to 40 speed cameras731 alcohol and drug measuring devices and 480 tablets. They cover the five provinces of the autonomous community, a total of 919 municipalities, with a total area of 79,463 square kilometers through which There are 20,000 kilometers of roads.
