Minister attacked while speaking on crime in Britain

British Police, Fire and Crime Minister Diana Johnson had her handbag stolen during a conference on security and crime. The incident occurred right in the hotel where the event was taking place, sparking a wave of arguments.

As Reuters reports, citing an unnamed official, the incident occurred on September 10 at a conference of the Association of Police Inspectors in central England. It is noteworthy that Johnson in his speech raised issues related to the rise in robberies and antisocial behaviour in the country.

Overall crime rates in Britain have fallen, but thefts of personal items such as handbags and mobile phones have risen by 40%, according to the Office for National Statistics. In her speech, the minister highlighted that the UK is experiencing an “epidemic of anti-social behaviour and theft”. She also announced plans to train more police officers to better combat the phenomenon after a “decade of decline”.

The incident sparked interest but the Home Office declined to comment. However, Warwickshire Police, where the incident took place, later said it had arrested a 56-year-old man on suspicion of robbery in connection with the incident.

Previously, Cursor reported that a British woman built a $250,000 house in a deadly location.
