“Azerbaijan proposes to implement joint initiatives and measures with Saudi Arabia during its COP29 presidency.”
The “Report” reports that Azerbaijani Finance Minister Samir Sharifov made this statement at an event dedicated to the 94th anniversary of the creation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“We are grateful to Saudi Arabia for supporting Azerbaijan within the framework of COP29. As a host country, Azerbaijan contributes to the fight against the negative effects of climate change and makes efforts to mobilize countries of the world to this important event. Taking into account Saudi Arabia’s rich experience in transition to “green” energy, we suggest the implementation of joint initiatives and activities during Azerbaijan’s presidency of COP29,” he said.
The minister stressed that effective meetings between the two countries to determine joint efforts on climate change create a solid basis for future cooperation in this direction.
Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the country, Issam bin Saleh Al-Quteyli, said that Riyadh is confident that Azerbaijan will successfully host the COP29 conference in November this year.
