“We strongly condemn and resolutely reject USAID Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman’s statement against Azerbaijan at the Armenian Embassy Independence Day event in the United States on September 16.”
Oku.Az This is reported to have been stated in a statement by Foreign Ministry Press Secretary Aykhan Hajizade regarding the allegations made by the Deputy Administrator of the US Agency for International Development.
It was reported that the extremely irresponsible statements of the Deputy Administrator are aimed at distorting the facts related to the anti-terrorist measures that put an end to the illegal presence of the Armenian armed forces in the sovereign territories of Azerbaijan:
“Azerbaijan’s actions were in full compliance with international law, including international humanitarian law, and were never directed at the civilian population. We are aware of the failure to comply with the obligations to withdraw Armenian armed forces from our territories, which led to anti-terrorist measures, as well as military and political provocations by the Armenian leadership, including the Armenian general. Instead of condemning the irresponsible congratulatory message addressed by the Minister on September 2 to the so-called regime that has been supported by this country for the past 30 years, the claims made by the officials of the US Agency for International Development against Azerbaijan are nothing but the encouragement of separatism and revanchist forces inside Armenia.
The short-sighted policy of the US Agency for International Development, which does not show the same enthusiasm for Azerbaijani refugees and internally displaced persons, whose number is ten times greater in the region, and its ignorance of current realities, is harmful and will not bring any beneficial results for the sake of peace and security in the region.
