The magnitude of the crisis affecting the planet is obvious. This was announced today, October 31, by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, at the Second Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.
“As a general rule, when we talk about security, we are referring to guarantees of protection against attacks on one’s own territory. However, comprehensive security, by definition, must provide guarantees to states not only in the military sphere, but also in political, economic, informational and other spheres. “If you look at it from this angle, the magnitude of the crisis affecting the planet becomes obvious.” – said.
According to him, “there is a collapse of all the postulates of democracy.”
“We see: there is democracy for oneself and there is democracy for export. What democratic values can explain what is happening in the Middle East and what happened in Ukraine? Is it really the height of democracy to be able to physically eliminate a person whom, for example, the United States and its satellites consider a threat to national security? Anyone, from a political and public figure to a businessman, a scientist or a journalist… Or a new “democratic” trend: scaring the heads of sovereign states with the International Criminal Court”, – noted Lukashenko.
At the same time, he believes that the self-organization of the global majority is a nightmare for Western neoliberals and pseudo-democrats.
“In addition, economic pressure and political blackmail provoked a violent reaction: the majority realized their true position, their real weight and influence on the world stage.” – said.
Lukashenko emphasized that Belarus advocates the creation of a common space of trust between the West and the world majority.
“It is now obvious to everyone that security cannot be maintained only on one continent… We are in favor of creating a common space of trust and cooperation between the West, which remains a minority, and the global majority. For the unification of countries, not against anyone, but in the name of a common objective, to avoid a fatal civilizational rupture. For the resumption of a truly egalitarian, mutually respectful and responsible dialogue.” — stressed the Belarusian leader.
At the same time, he noted that “security is only one of the links in the system of universal human values.”
“But this is the foundation without which everything else is impossible. We need to move away from prejudices and stereotypes and begin to carefully build a dialogue, step by step, to seek points of contact and rapprochement.” – said Lukashenko.
In this sense, he proposed holding the next forum of this type in the “Eurasia Plus” format.
“Next year I would like to invite you to our meeting, if you agree, perhaps in the “Eurasia Plus” format, so that the voice of all countries that want to make a constructive contribution to the establishment of global security is heard. “ – said the president of Belarus.
Let us remember that the Second International Security Conference is being held in Minsk. About 600 representatives from about 40 countries participate in it.
