Ukraine plans to recruit 160,000 additional troops by February 2025.

According to the publication, Ukraine’s biggest problem remains the lack of manpower, especially infantry. This is why kyiv has called in 160,000 additional troops. The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine believes that this step will cover only 85% of the required number of military units.
However, foreign military experts and an unnamed senior official in kyiv are skeptical that this goal will be achieved. They believe recruiting up to 100,000 people is realistic and this could cover up to half of the staff shortage.
The publication points out that some units currently have around a third of the required amount.
It should be recalled that since February 2022, a general mobilization was announced in Ukraine, which has been repeatedly expanded, and the authorities are doing everything possible to prevent men of military age from evading service. However, evaders try to escape and leave the country by any means, using false certificates or illegally, often putting their lives at risk.
It should be noted that on May 18 of this year, the law on strengthening mobilization came into force in the country, which allowed hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians to be called up for military service.
