Mohamed VI celebrates Spain’s support for Moroccan autonomy plan in the Sahara

This Friday, the King of Mohamed VI celebrated the favorable position of “Spain, a friendly state” to the Moroccan autonomy plan for Western Sahara, in a speech in which he stressed the need to convince “the few countries which continue to go against the logic of truth” on this issue.

“For years, we have worked tenaciously and patiently…to publicize the justice of our country’s position as well as our legitimate historical rights. about our Sahara despite a difficult international context”, he declared before Parliament in his opening speech of the new legislative year.

“It is worth mentioning, among others, the friendly state of Spain, which know the ins and outs of this issue and whose position carries deep political and historical significance, alongside the majority of European Union countries,” he said.

Mohamed VI highlighted how all this work led more recently to the “Indisputable” support from Francewho recognized Moroccan sovereignty over the former Spanish colony at the end of July this year, and as such wanted to thank President Emmanuel Macron in the most sincere way on behalf of the country.

“We were able to obtain recognition from influential countries and permanent members of the Security Council, such as USA and France”, celebrated the monarch, who also underlined the “broad support” of a growing number of countries around the world for Moroccan theses.

“We want to express to all these friends and partners our enormous consideration for your positions for the defense of our main national cause”, declared Mohamed VI, who called on Parliament to work together during the next legislature to “settle” the question of the “Moroccan nature of the Sahara”.
