Chisinau demanded that Russia respect the neutrality status and territorial integrity of Moldova. The statement came after two downed drones were discovered on the border with Ukraine the previous day.
“In one day, two Russian drones were discovered on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Moldova: one in the Causeni region and the other in the Riscani region. “We have clear information that the drones were launched by the Russian Federation.” – said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement.
The department emphasized that “the violation of the republic’s airspace is a hostile gesture on the part of Russia.”
“We demand the immediate cessation of drone launches. The Republic of Moldova is a peaceful country and the government’s priority is to ensure the peace and security of our citizens. These drones endanger the lives of citizens. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs demands that Russia respect the neutrality status and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.” – emphasized in the document.
Last Sunday, the General Inspectorate of Police of Moldova confirmed the discovery of two unmanned aerial vehicles. The first message came around 10:00 local time (11:00 Moscow time) from a resident of the village of Firledeni, who found an unmanned aerial vehicle near the village. Special services arrived at the scene. The area where the drone was found has been cordoned off. Shortly after, another drone was found in a field near the village of Novi Boroseni, in the Riscani region.
Preliminary studies have shown that these devices “accompany Russian Shahed-type drones.” They are not equipped with explosives, but are intended to distract Ukrainian air defense systems. They do not pose any danger, the police assured.
Recall that earlier fragments of drones that flew after the work of the Ukrainian air defense were repeatedly discovered on the territory of Moldova. There were also several cases when Ukrainian missiles, including those with warheads, fell on populated areas of the Republic of Moldova. Even in this case, Chisinau blamed Russia.
