Moldova intends to ask the European Commission to resolve the problem of gas transit through Ukraine

Moldova will turn to the European Commission for help in finding a solution for a stable gas supply to the country, provided Ukraine stops transit. This was announced on November 28 by the vice president of the Moldovagaz company, Vadim Cheban.

“The main risks to the continuation of transit through Ukraine are both kyiv’s reluctance to renew the transit agreement and military actions… If uncertainty continues, Moldova will be forced to turn to the European Commission in search of help to find a compromise solution for a stable agreement. gas supply to the country”, – quotes Cheban from JurnalTV.

The vice president said that if Ukraine does not extend the gas transit agreement, Moldova will look for other routes through the trans-Balkan corridor. According to Cheban, it is also important to sign operator agreements between Gazprom, Naftogaz of Ukraine and gas transmission network operators. Without such agreements, gas transit, including to Transnistria and other European countries, will be impossible, Izvestia reminds.
