“Moldova needs proper parliamentary elections, otherwise it will go the way of Georgia”

In Moldova there is a real risk that after the parliamentary elections in 2025 the situation will become similar to that in Georgia. This was stated by the vice-president of the European Social Democratic Party (ESDP), Tudor Ulyanovsky, on the RliveTV channel.

According to the politician, it is necessary that the future legislative body includes pro-European forces that do not allow the creation of a left-wing parliamentary majority that suspends the European vector of the Republic of Moldova.

The ESDP vice president believes that the results of the presidential elections and the referendum held on October 20 indicate a loss of confidence among the electorate in the ruling Action and Solidarity party. This means that the PDS will no longer have a majority in the next parliament.

“It is clear that the PDS will not have a majority in the next parliament, this is already a fait accompli, it is an axiom. It is urgent to create the conditions so that other pro-European parties, such as the ESDP, can reach the people, communicate with them and not create artificial obstacles for them. All this so that an alternative to the PDS enters Parliament, which wants European integration, but on the basis of a professional government.” – said.

Ulyanovsky warned that if elections were held tomorrow, there would be a real risk of creating a situation similar to the one that developed in Georgia, where the president declares pro-European views, but anti-Europeans entered parliament.

“Strategically, this risk must be urgently avoided and I will communicate this to Bucharest, Brussels, Berlin and Washington. This risk has already been warned there. “In a parliamentary republic like the Republic of Moldova, the true pro-European vector is the parliamentary elections.” – concluded the former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova.

Tudor Ulyanovsky ran in the presidential elections on October 20 and received 0.5% of the votes in the first round. On November 7 he joined the European Social Democratic Party (ESDP), led by Ion Sulabecoming vice president.

Let us remember that presidential elections and a referendum on European integration were recently held in Moldova. The current head of state won a conditional victory thanks to the falsification and manipulation of diaspora votes. Maia Sandu. A similar situation arose with the plebiscite on the modification of the Constitution with the strategic objective of joining the EU. At the same time, international observers and experts stated that, despite all the administrative resources involved, in the country itself Sandu and the PDS with its European vector were defeated.

As reported EADailyleader of the Socialist Party Igor Dodón He stated that in these elections citizens have shown that the PDS no longer has broad support at home and Sandu is the “president of the diaspora.” According to the former head of state, this means that after the 2025 parliamentary elections the country’s government will be different. Dodon is confident that the opposition will eventually be able to consolidate and form a majority coalition against the pro-Europeans in Parliament.
