Moldova’s Central Election Commission allowed the Revival party of the Shor bloc to campaign against the EU

The Central Election Commission of Moldova registered the Revival party as a participant in the constitutional referendum on EU membership on 6 September. The political party will encourage voters to vote against EU membership.

Earlier, the Central Election Commission decided that Ilan Shor’s opposition bloc “Victory”, which includes the “Renaissance” party, would not be registered to participate in the autumn elections.

Let us recall that in Moldova, on October 20, presidential elections and a referendum on amending the Constitution will be held on the same day. They want to complement the country’s Basic Law with a strategic objective: European integration. The opposition believes that the authorities are using the plebiscite in the electoral interest of those who want to be re-elected. Maia SanduThey also expect that Moldova’s accession to the EU will mean a loss of sovereignty, which will result in the republic being drawn into a military conflict. The “Victory” bloc calls on people to attend the referendum and tick the “No” box, while the Socialist Party Igor Dodon convinces his followers to boycott the vote.

The CEC previously registered four more participants in the referendum: the Green Ecologist Party, the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) and the Respect for Moldova party with the “Yes” position, as well as the Communist Party with the “No” position.

As reported EADaily In late August, the Central Election Commission of Moldova demanded that the Ministry of Justice restrict the activities of the opposition party “Renaissance” due to irregularities in financial reporting. It is suspected of illegal financing. There is still time before the elections, and if this happens, its participation in the electoral processes will be canceled.

Similarly, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova restricted the activities of the Chance party, which is also part of the Victory bloc. The association was subsequently notified of its refusal to participate in the elections and the referendum.
