The Vice-President of the Government and Deputy Secretary General of the PSOE, María Jesús Montero, gave a nod to the questioned continuity of the current Secretary General of the Andalusian Socialists, Juan Espadasalthough conditional.
“The first electoral nomination – said Montero – if nothing happens, will take place in Andalusia, in 2026, with Juan.” He thus publicly demonstrated his support for the former mayor of Seville, who is experiencing weeks during which the voices of the internal opposition are multiplying.
Montero added that the federal leadership of the PSOE “is always respectful of the internal processes” of each federation. With that of Madrid, plunged into the scandal of Juan Lobato and also with that of Andalusia, with its contested leadership.
“We must present alternatives to the right and the far right,” Montero warned on this subject. “We want the game to be in good shape”“, he added, in reference to the moment when the appointment with the ballot boxes arrives in Andalusia. This, he stressed, “implies a revitalization of projects and leadership”.
This support comes after the secretary general of PSOE in CádizJuan Carlos Ruiz Boix, stressed that a change was necessary to rediscover the “enthusiasm” of the Andalusians.

Thus, Crespín emphasized that The PSOE must have a project in Andalusia “that excites”which is the image of a “modern Andalusia”.
Added to these voices are the “Susanists” and other old-fashioned critics. Personalities like Mario Jiménez, who have been publicly notified against the Espadas project.
Despite these criticisms, Espadas has always been clear: He wishes to run for the presidency of the Board of Directors in 2026. And, although he has been placed in a multitude of destinations – Brussels, Madrid… – he remains in his post, as promised.
