Today, October 8, in the center of Kazan, in the park dedicated to the 220th anniversary of Kazan University, a monument to the Chinese philosopher Confucius (551 – 479 BC) was erected. The local media writes about this.
The philosopher looks towards the university library building, his hands crossed in front of him. Presumably, on the left side, Confucius holds a commemorative plaque: Chinese officials used them for important meetings, to record the emperor’s decrees, or to write down information that needed to be transmitted to the head of state. The height of the monument, including the pedestal, is approximately 2.5 meters, the Business Online newspaper clarifies.
The newspaper suggests that in this way the university hopes to attract an influential delegation from China, which will visit Kazan in October within the framework of the BRICS summit. Perhaps it will be possible to invite the Chinese leader himself to the inauguration. Xi Jinping.
It should be noted that the monument to the great thinker previously appeared in Moscow, on the territory of the Chinese business center “Park Huaming” in 2008 (in the metropolitan area of the Botanical Garden). The bronze figure of Confucius was made in China and donated to the Russian capital by the Confucian Academy.
