The president of the Community of Madrid will double subsidies to traders and residents affected by traffic restrictions and will facilitate the scrapping of old vehicles without environmental labels.
This was announced by the president of the region during her speech at the plenary session of the Madrid Assembly, in response to a question from Vox spokesperson Rocío Monasterio, who criticized low-income areas. emissions. “What we are doing, within the powers that we have, is helping those municipalities that are forced to comply with these regulations, whether they like it or not, and what we are going to do now is this part of this help, that is to say, the amount of this aid, we are going to double it and we are going to allocate it to neighbors and traders because I recognize that they are the most affected by many of these regulations that do not take into account the prosperity or the daily lives of these families,” he noted.
Likewise, Ayuso explained that the Community of Madrid will also launch a new help line aimed at scrapping vehicles without an environmental label and facilitate the purchase of less polluting hybrid or electric cars. They will also be intended to access transport tickets and other direct aid which has not been detailed.

For his part, Rocío Monasterio asked Ayuso to ask the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, to return the amount of fines imposed by Madrid 360 after the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid annulled it. Ayuso, however, recalled that these low-emission zones are not the responsibility of the Community of Madrid.
