More than 100 people died in the United States as a result of the hurricane

At least 111 people died as a result of Hurricane Helen that hit the southeastern United States.

Additionally, at least 27 people died in North Carolina, 24 in South Carolina, 17 in Georgia, 11 in Florida and two in Virginia as a result of the natural disaster.

About 2.68 million residents of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia are without power due to the hurricane.
