More than 1,000 migrants have arrived irregularly in Spain in the last 48 hours, according to a count carried out by European press.
Concretely, this Tuesday, they arrived irregularly around 478 migrants to the Canary Islands, 151 to the Balearic Islands and eight to Cádiz. Meanwhile, this Wednesday, at least 381 people arrived in the Balearic Islands, 21 in Granada and 15 in Almería.
Precisely, the president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijoadmitted this Wednesday that they live “difficult days” in the Canary Islands due to the incessant arrival of migrant boats which caused reception services in Lanzarote and El Hierro were “overwhelmed”.
Likewise, in statements to journalists, he indicated that his government had already warned that the arrival of migrants was going to be “massive”“as soon as the navigation conditions have improved and now they are collaborating “among all” to guarantee reception, even in the tents that the Canarian Government has installed in Lanzarote for minors and which are reserved for adults.
Between January 1 and October 31 of this year they arrived a total of 47,165 irregular migrants in Spainincluding 34,087 to the Canary Islands, according to the latest report from the Ministry of the Interior.
