Buñol celebrates its traditional Tomatina, a festival that is already part of our heritage and which should bring together 22,000 people in 2024.
More than 150,000 kilos of tomatoes distributed in seven trucks will color the streets of Buñol red during a day that, according to the municipality, will be “full house” for their most international festival, which they say they are “really looking forward” to celebrating.
“There is desire and also a lot of respect because there are a lot of people on the route, since this year there will be seven trucks, and we hope that the party will go completely normally and that at two o’clock in the afternoon we will start cleaning and everyone is happy,” said the town councilor of Tomatina de Buñol, Sergio Galarza.
This year, as a novelty, VIP tickets have been sold, costing 500 euros, which offer the possibility of getting into the truck to throw tomatoes to “live the experience of what those of us from Buñol live.” Galarza admits that the tickets have not been very well received, since they only know of the sale of about five, although they hope that in future editions the interest in discovering La Tomatina from the truck will increase.
