More than 200 athletes in India have dropped out of competition.

A scandal broke out at the weightlifting competition held in India. Thus, the participants of the tournament held in Modinagar refused to participate en masse after learning of the arrival of the doping inspectors.

Competitions in several weight categories were canceled due to the massive absence of the announced athletes. In some categories one or two athletes participated.

A total of 429 athletes are expected to participate in the tournament: 252 men and 177 women. 219 athletes left the competition following reports of doping control. Among those who refused there are 126 men and 93 women. Previously, doping control was not carried out at the tournament.
