Among the occupants there are at least four babies, according to the first count
Maritime Rescue rescued in recent hours more than 200 migrants in the waters near the islands, including several minors.
Yesterday, Friday afternoon, rescuer Adhara came to the rescue after several hours of navigation in a dugout canoe about 90 kilometers south of El Hierro, in which, according to the first count, they were traveling. 141 migrantsincluding 25 women and three babies. The occupants of the cayuco arrived at the La Restinga dock late in the afternoon, several of them suffering from navigation-related illnesses and pathologies, and one of the babies also had a fever.
For its part, a second boat transferred to La Gomera by the Talía maritime guard was also rescued, more precisely a cayuco located about 185 kilometers south of Tenerife. On board they traveled 67 peopleincluding a baby, arrived on land late at night.
The Macondo sea rescue was also activated in Gran Canaria following the sighting of a canoe with 46 people on board located by a container ship en route. They were disembarked at the port of Arguineguín.
