More than 40 volunteers to clean the seabed of the Sea Club

A volunteer operation made up of 12 professional divers and more than 30 people on land, including club staff and marina users, was at work. V Seabed cleaning day of the Mar-Mallorca Club. This activity, which took place all morning in the club’s facilities, particularly on pontoons 60 and 70, made it possible to remove 15 m3 of waste from the seabed, which is equivalent to approximately 5,000 kilos of objects fallen into the sea from the pontoons or carried away by the current. Glass bottles, tires, irons, mobile devices, among others, were removed by divers with the help of volunteers on the ground.

Pedro Barcelosecurity director of the Mar-Mallorca Club, thanked more than thirty volunteers for their participation: “This year We have exceeded the number of expected aids. Without a doubt, without the volunteers this action could not be carried out, so the credit goes to them.

The cleaning day is part of the environmental actions that the club carries out from its Quality and Environment department in order to preserve and respect the environment, in addition to natural resources. “Bottom cleaning seeks prevent pollution and protect the marine ecosystemas well as raising awareness of the need to carry out good waste management,” explained Barceló.

After the work of the divers, the waste was classified for later dropped off at the club’s green point. The day ended with a paella for the participating volunteers.

The V Cleaning Day of the Mar-Mallorca Club Fund had the collaboration of: Tiberi Catering, Escuela de Mar, Isurus, Coronet, Tech Dive and SSP Underwater.
