More than 60 buildings to be demolished in Baku: Eldar Azizov clarified the issue of compensation

“The issue of compensation for demolished buildings in Baku is regulated by the Ministry of Finance and this process is carried out on the basis of the market price.”

This was stated by Eldar Azizov, the head of the executive branch of the city of Baku, in a statement to “Report”.

Speaking about the buildings to be demolished in the capital, E. Azizov stressed that old buildings, like people, have a beginning and an end: “Old buildings are being demolished and new ones will be built in their place. The result of the policy is that today the city of Baku is expanding and becoming more beautiful.”

It should be noted that documents related to 65 of the 130 listed buildings in Baku have been submitted to the State Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning. Currently, the committee is conducting inventory work together with other local institutions. Residents of these buildings will vacate their homes and receive compensation in exchange for apartments.

According to the Greater Baku Regional Development Plan, the buildings to be demolished in the initial stage are located in the districts of Binagadi, Khatai, Nizami, Nasimi, Sabunchu and Sabail. As soon as the inventory work is completed, the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers will be announced. Following this decision, it is planned to demolish the buildings and relocate the population as soon as possible, even within a year.

In this regard, the Cabinet of Ministers created a joint working group with the Executive Authority of the city of Baku, the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Economy and other relevant institutions.

The final decision on the amount of compensation for residents whose houses are included in the plan will be announced. Previously, owners of houses included in the plan received compensation of 2,000 manats per square meter. The amount of compensation will be announced by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers. The location of the buildings will be taken into account in this matter.

In the second stage, more than 60 buildings in Baku are expected to be demolished and new buildings will be built in their place. Negotiations are currently underway with construction companies for the new buildings to be constructed.
