More than a hundred shows and great artists will parade at the Rojas Theater this fall

Aitana Sánchez Gijón, Pepón Nieto, Faemino y Cansado, Anabel Alonso, Emilio Gutiérrez Caba and the singer Coque Malla will be some of the artists who will parade in the coming months in the city of Toledo thanks to the autumn programming of the Teatro de Rojas, which this Monday the Councilor of Culture and Heritage presented, Ana Perez, accompanied by the theatre director, Francisco Square. A season with more than a hundred shows for all audiences, sensibilities, styles, trends and genres which will begin on September 21 and last until January 17, 2025 with a new edition, number 32, of the successful cycle of Classical Theater “The Golden Age of Toledo” and also with the traditional cycle of Family Theatre and Dance, in addition to off-cycle shows and other off-stage activities.

The Classical Theatre cycle will open with “Lindabridis Castle”, a co-production between Nao D’amores and the National Classical Theatre Company and ends with William Shakespeare’s “The Comedy of Errors” with Pepon Nieto, Antonio Pagudo and Rulo Pardoamong others, at the Auditorium Theater of the El Greco Congress Center.

Other titles complete this cycle such as the itinerant show through the streets and squares of the historic center of Toledo; “The sides of Verona” by Francisco de Rojas Zorilla; “We said yesterday, we say today” which will take place, as a novelty, in the Cloister of the Primate Cathedral, with texts by Fray Luis de León and with direction and interpretation by E.Milio Gutierrez Cabawith live music with the Músicos de Ureña; also “The Mayor of Zalamea”, with Arturo Querejeta and Daniel Albadalejo at the El Greco Conference Center; “La dame duende”, by Calderón de la Barca; “Lazarillo”, chamber opera by Teatro Xtremo and Euroscena; “Julio César”, by the Portuguese company Do Chapitò;

You will also be able to enjoy other shows such as “La Francesca Laura”, by Lope de Vega from the Siglo de Oro Foundation; “La Celestina” with Anabel Alonso; “The Follies of Summer” directed by Eduardo Vasco; “El perro del Hortelano”, with version and staging by Paco Mir; “Songs of the Golden Age”, a poetic concert by Auric; “Near the Tagus, in a pleasant solitude”, “an absolute premiere, on the eclogues of Garcilaso de la Vega by the Compañía Real, organizer in collaboration with the University of Castilla-La Mancha, within the framework of the Research Conference on Garcilaso that will take place on September 18 and 19”, said the Minister of Culture.

On the other hand, the section for the little ones is made up of 6 shows: “The Accidental Escape of Young Jules Verne”, by the Teatro Narea company; “Desprovisto”, a circus and acrobatics show by the Upartede company; “The Journey to the Planet of Everything is Possible”, by Índigo Teatro; “One Day I Was a Watermelon”, by Chicacharcos; ‘Tú y yo’, a show with limited capacity and no subscription fee aimed at babies from 6 months and ‘Al calor del cancionero’, by the Teatro de Malta which seeks to “introduce children to music, instruments and traditional songs”.

Shows outside of cycles

As for the performances that are outside the two cycles mentioned, it is planned to present four operas with two international companies and one regional, namely “Tosca”, “Carmen” and “Madame Butterfly”, in addition to the one already mentioned in the exhibition of the classical theater ‘Lazarillo’.

As for the theater, apart from the cycles, in autumn you can enjoy the show ‘4×4’ by Ron Lalá, ‘Faemino and tired’, or the show “La Madre” with Aitana Sánchez-Gijón; as well as the show “HA-YA-TO Drums Masters”.

For lovers of classical ballet, they will be able to enjoy a new appointment with the Kiev Ballet with the staging of “The Nutcracker”, while the International Classical Ballet will bring “Swan Lake” to Toledo.

Regarding the musical section, Ana Pérez highlighted the traditional extraordinary concerts of Christmas, New Year and Epiphany; the presentation of ‘We’, the new album of the Toledo group Vigüela; ‘Playing Tom Waits’, by the Canadian group Orchestral Men’s Orchestra; ‘Chants de l’âge d’or’, by Auric and finally, Coque Malla with his tour ‘A piano, a pianist and me’, which will perform at the Palacio de Congresos.

Ticket sales start Thursday

As for tickets, they will be on sale from Thursday, September 5 to 11 of the same month and at the same price as in previous years, in three ways, for the Classic Cycle with partial tickets for the first six shows and tickets. for the 6 shows, as well as the full ticket, which includes 12 shows.
