The majority of participants in the referendum on the status of Puerto Rico are in favor of including the island as a state of the United States.

More than 56% of voters support the corresponding idea.
More than 30% of voters supported the island’s complete independence from the United States. Another 12% consider it correct to maintain the current state of the country.
It should be noted that the island came under the control of the United States in 1898 after the Spanish-American War.
