The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, suggested this Tuesday to the head of the Spanish executive, Pedro Sánchez, thatCall for a referendum so that all Spaniards can decide on the Catalan quota on which the CPS and the ERC have agreed and which should involve a reform of the Constitution.
“Let him make a reform of the Constitution, which will lead us to a referendum for all Spaniards and Let’s vote and decide if we want this quota model sponsored by Catalan separatism“This is the message that Juanma Moreno sent to Pedro Sánchez, in an interview with Onda Cero, collected by Europa Press.
Juanma Moreno insisted that this Catalan quota is the result of a “need”: that of investing the socialist Salvador Illa as president of the Generalitat and that Pedro Sánchez continues to “stay in Moncloa”. “It makes no sense,” Moreno said about this Catalan quota, which not only “breaks” principles such as interterritorial solidarity, but also the “discourse of the left” itself, which is no longer capable of defending “equality among Spaniards” and is willing to “privilege certain territories, precisely the richest, to the detriment of the poorest.”
“To what extent is Sanchism capable of permeating and absorbing even its own party?” said the Andalusian president, who stressed that if Sánchez wants to go ahead with this Catalan quota, “to reform the Constitution“and call the referendum so that the Spanish can express themselves.
Likewise, Juanma Moreno said that if all the autonomous communities wanted to collect and manage all the taxes as Catalonia wants, “where would the state resources be” and that “the role of the redistribution of wealth that the State must have and the cohesion between Spanish citizens.
As for whether Andalusia would be willing to accept debt cancellation, Juanma Moreno indicated that “the problem” of this community is not the debt to the State, which amounts to around 25 billion euros compared to 80 billion for Catalonia, but underfunding due to regional funding model which causes it to lose around $1.5 billion a year.
He said that Pedro Sánchez, in order to solve a problem of “survival”, had to pay “the debt of an autonomous community that has not managed its public accounts well“, as is the case of Catalonia, but also seeking to “whitewash” it with the rest of the communities, by affirming that they could also benefit from debt relief.
Meeting with Sanchez
Despite all these scenarios, Juanma Moreno wanted to clarify that if Pedro Sánchez calls him to a meeting, he will attend, because It is his “obligation” as president of the Andalusians. “If the president of my country calls me, I have an obligation to go, even if it is just to talk with him, but I have an obligation to sit down with him to tell him exactly what the position of Andalusia is to debate it, he says. that and, ultimately, dialogue.
For Moreno, we must always be careful with “institutional forms”, because as soon as citizens lose confidence in their institutions, “populisms grow”.
Regarding the position of the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, proposing not to attend the meeting with Sánchez, Moreno indicated that he interpreted these words of his colleague not as “that he did not want to attend, but rather as that he does not give any type of credit” to the head of the Spanish Executive, from whom “he suffers first” an arrogant and arrogant attitude.
