The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, believes that in the management of DANA, which caused more than 200 deaths, there is a responsibility shared by the Generalitat Valenciana and the State Administration, but he denies that now is the time to call for resignations from both sides of the competition.
“Here there are obviously shared responsibilities. Responsibility of the Valencian Community and the General Administration of the State, and therefore if something has not been done well – what seems has not been done well – It’s everyone’s responsibility.”Moreno maintained.
The Andalusian believes that “there will be time in the Valencian Cortes and in the Congress of Deputies to clarify the responsibilities of the different areas”, not only in the strict and punitive sensebut to improve the model so that this does not happen again”, and for the moment he asks for calm.
To continue responding to the crisis, but also to demand the departure of the various people responsible for responding to the disaster. “I think it’s not the right time. People who are at the command center are being asked to resign, it’s a bit absurd, it’s introduce greater uncertainty than social uncertainty in full emergency,” he considered.
Where is the level to ask for resignations? According to Moreno, this is an answer that every politician must give. “Everyone needs to know what situation they are in and when needed in an institution. Then, politicians are very inclined to ask for resignations and use them as a political weapon,” he commented during his speech at the Abc Reale Forum in Huelva.
The Andalusian president also mentioned this weekend’s demonstration in Valencia, where some 130,000 Valencians demanded the resignation of the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, for the management of DANA.
“I understand the discomfort of citizens, the frustration of many families. It is impossible not to sympathize with them. They have every legitimate right to demonstratealways with respect and without violence against authority, but I think this is not the time to ask for resignations,” he stressed.
