The National Police arrested a man from Moroccan origin who belonged to the criminal organization in which the agricultural entrepreneurs of Mallorca earned between 15,000 and 22,000 euros for Moroccan seasonal workers illegal for a work contract that would allow them to come to Spain regularly.
This arrest is in addition to the two others arrested last August, when two agricultural businessmen from Mallorca were arrested for the same events. All are accused of the crimes of human trafficking for the purpose of economic exploitationpromoting irregular immigration and belonging to a criminal organization.
In this way, the National Police reported that Group I of the Ucrif is lifting the siege on those responsible for this plot of irregular immigration linked to a company in the agricultural sector in Mallorca, although other arrests are not ruled out.
In total, the three defendants made profits, since they also earned between 6,000 and 8,000 euros for employment contracts which was used by foreign citizens to regularize their situation in Spain. Specifically, the total number of people who would have regularized their situation in Spain through said company would be 26 in total.
Abusive working conditions
Due to the debt incurred and the need to maintain your contract and not to lose their status and conditions of regular residence in Spain, foreigners were forced to accept abusive working conditions and contrary to labor agreements.
After the arrest of the two close relatives of the agricultural company investigated, investigators focused the investigation on the location and arrest of the person responsible for the recruitment of foreign citizens in Morocco.
This person, a Moroccan, was in Morocco at the time of the arrest of the company’s managers, so it was not possible to locate him at that time. However, investigators never lost sight of his activities, subjecting him to constant surveillance, which allowed his interception as soon as he arrived in Palma Airport flying from Morocco.
This allowed the intervention of sensitive documents for the investigation, which strengthened the evidence collected so far and made it possible to verify the “modus operandi” of the criminal organization.
On the occasion of the interception of the documentation, and based on the evidence already collected previously, the recruiter was arrested last Monday, September 16, as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of human trafficking for the purpose of labor exploitation, promoting irregular immigration and belonging to a criminal organization.
