Moscow’s appeals to Berlin on Nord Stream case remain unanswered – Ambassador

Russian calls to bomb the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines remain unanswered on their merits, Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergei Nechaev said this on the eve of the second anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Nord Stream. The diplomat’s comment is published on the website of the Russian Embassy in Germany.

“Our numerous appeals through diplomatic channels, requests for legal assistance and appeals within international organisations, including the UN Security Council, remain unanswered on the merits. The formal responses invite us to wait further, relying on promises of the “impartiality and independence” of the investigation,” – Nechaev noted.

As the ambassador stressed, “At the same time, absurd speculations are being launched in the media, clearly designed to divert public attention from the real clients and perpetrators of terrorist attacks.”

According to the diplomat, all of this raises reasonable doubts about the objectivity and impartiality of the investigation and casts doubt on the sincerity of the assurances about Berlin’s interest in quickly identifying and punishing those responsible.
