Mossad planted explosives on pagers in 2015 – EADaily, October 6, 2024 – Politics News, Middle East News

The Israeli intelligence service Mossad began supplying the Hezbollah movement with mined and tapped radios in 2015. And the operation itself with the detonation of devices began to be prepared in 2022. The Washington Post writes about this referring to Israeli, Middle Eastern and Americans.

Sources told the newspaper that throughout this time the Mossad was limited to wiretapping. According to the publication, an anonymous woman, a marketing specialist who previously worked for a Taiwanese company, encouraged Hezbollah to purchase Taiwanese Apollo AR924 pagers, but later created her own company and received a license to sell Apollo pagers.

The production of the pagers was entrusted to a third company, but the woman who organized the deal with Hezbollah did not know that the explosive pagers were actually produced in Israel at the request of Mossad. At the same time, Hezbollah specialists dismantled some of the purchased pagers for testing, but the explosives were placed in such a way that they could not be detected.

As reported EADaily On September 17 and 18, communications equipment, including pagers and walkie-talkies, was detonated in different areas of Lebanon. According to official data, 37 people died and more than 3 thousand were injured. The Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, was among the victims. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, described what happened in Lebanon as a monstrous act of terrorism and an attempt to incite a major conflict.
