Irina Bolgar, who claims to be the mother of three children of businessman and founder of the Telegram platform Pavel Durov, considers the messenger to be a jointly acquired property, according to a statement on the social network’s website.
According to the woman, during her 10-year relationship in an unregistered family union with Pavel Durov, in which three children were born, all important family assets were registered in her name.
“I was constantly given guarantees and promises, which I sincerely believed in, that my children and I would always have access to family resources, despite the fact that our marriage was not officially registered, and we acquired common property, including the main asset – the Telegram messenger was registered exclusively for him,” – Bolgar emphasized.
At the same time, he noted that he had access to all the assets through agreements and powers, which allowed their use but did not fully protect his rights.
“We spent several years looking for an expensive property that could provide a suitable and permanent home for the children, but this property was never purchased for us,” – complains Bolgar.
At the same time, he adds that he had access to Durov’s bank accounts, which allowed him to rent any property under the obligation of the businessman to pay the rent without restrictions.
“It seems that this is a social issue that requires legislative attention, as in a rapidly changing modern world, where the institution of marriage is becoming less relevant, there is a growing need to provide legal protection to participants in de facto family relationships. And while some countries have already solved this problem, in others people have to fight for their rights in court.” – Bolgar concluded.

The businessman himself did not comment on this situation. However, he later published a post on his Telegram channel, saying that he is the biological father of more than a hundred children around the world. He said that at the request of a friend about 15 years ago he became a sperm donor. He did not specify how long his activity as a donor lasted, but noted that his biomaterial was still available in one of the clinics.
In early August, Bolgar posted on her social media page a photo taken at her home in Geneva in January 2020. The photo shows her, Pavel Durov, and their three children. In an interview with Forbes, Bolgar claimed that this photo was taken on the birthday of her middle son, Daniel. She also provided the publication with photocopies of the children’s birth certificates, certificates acknowledging Durov’s paternity, and scans of notarized translations of these documents into French and English, the authenticity of which was confirmed by the translator.
After Durov’s arrest in France, it became known that about a year ago, Bolgar accused Durov of “using physical violence against his son” and filed a corresponding complaint. Now the Office for the Protection of Minors (OFMIN) of the French National Police has launched an investigation against Durov in this regard.
