Two weeks left until Valencia MotoGP Grand Prix and the competition does not plan to cancel it despite the terrible DANA which hits the Valencian Community, with almost a hundred deaths and countless material damage.
Despite the request for Marc Marquez To cancel the weekend and move it to another scenario, Dorna considers it can be executed.
“In principle, the initial date is kept. They work to resolve access and services. The track did not suffer any damage,” said Carmelo Expeleta, CEO of the MotoGP championship.
“Everyone is aware of the current situation in Valencia due to heavy rains and flooding. Unfortunately, there have been more than 50 deaths in the area and many people are still missing. Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones. Fortunately, there were no injuries among circuit personnel.but there is significant damage outside the installations, particularly in terms of access to the circuit. “We have been informed that the GP track itself appears to be in good condition, although a full assessment is still underway,” says the Dorna CEO.
Of course, he called for caution: “As you will all understand, it would be insensitive and irresponsible to speak about this event at this time.”
“Attention must continue to focus on helping those affected and the circuit is currently being used as a relief center. Like MotoGP, We must try to help in any way possible. However, local authorities and MotoGP remain committed to delivering the event on time and will work tirelessly to achieve this. We will continue to provide more information when it becomes available, and we will communicate as soon as possible if there are any changes in the organization of the event,” concludes Ezpeleta.
