Project 12418 small missile boat (SMRK) “Stupinets”, built at the Vympel shipyard in Rybinsk, is planned to be transferred to the Russian Navy (Navy) in 2025. This was reported to TASS by a source from the shipbuilding industry .
“The first of a pair of small missile boats being built in Rybinsk is scheduled to be delivered to the Russian Navy in 2025.” – he clarified.
The agency’s interlocutor recalled that initially two RTOs were built in Rybinsk for one of the foreign clients. After refusing to buy them, the Russian Navy became interested in the ships. They were immediately transferred from the under construction category to the repair category to install the weapons systems necessary for the Russian Navy.
It was previously reported that in July the Vympel shipyard launched the Stupinets missile ship, the first of a pair.
The main strike weapon of Project 12418 MRK is the Uran anti-ship missile system with X-35 missiles. The new ship inherited the name of the Project 1241 ship, which served in the Caspian Flotilla until 2023. “Stupinets” is supposed to be part of the Caspian flotilla.
