much ado for nothing

Everything that happens in Venezuela is accompanied by such a level of noise that it inevitably produces a deafening effect. The Spanish right and extreme right have been contributing to this noise for years and have made the future of the Caribbean country a matter of domestic politics, as a stylus, first against Podemos and, later, against “sanchism”. It is precisely this level of decibels that, once again, accompanies the arrival of Edmundo González in Madrid, where rigor seeks to prevail over what has been, in fact, an effective diplomatic action, largely thanks to the secrecy with which the Spanish government moved, even if it was quicksand.

This discretion is due above all to the capacity for dialogue with all the actors on the Venezuelan political chessboard that Spanish diplomacy has cultivated in recent years. A success that few countries, if any, can boast of. A virtue cultivated in particular by the work of former President José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, whom it is not surprising that PP, Vox and their media receivers are now mercilessly attacking. Faced with these attacks, which accuse the politician of complicit silence with Nicolas Maduro, there is a mediator who certainly knows better than anyone the labyrinthine scenario in which Venezuela finds itself.
