Elon Musk met with Iran’s permanent representative to the UN, Amir Saeed Iravani, and the sides discussed methods to reduce tensions between Iran and the United States, the New York Times reports, citing two unnamed Iranian officials.

According to the newspaper’s sources, the meeting took place in a secret location and lasted more than an hour. They evaluated their results as positive.
The meeting with Musk provided Tehran with an “alternative solution” to avoid negotiating directly with US officials, the sources said. At the same time, one of them said that during the conversation, Iravani suggested that Musk move part of the business to Tehran, having obtained permission from the US Treasury.
