Musk promised Brazilians free internet from Starlink

Internet from Starlink, part of Elon Musk’s SpaceX, will be free in Brazil until the end of the process with the country’s authorities over the blocking of the company’s accounts, the entrepreneur said on Friday.

“SpaceX will provide internet services to users in Brazil for free until the conflict is resolved, as we cannot receive payments, but we do not want to disconnect anyone.” – he wrote on his social network page X.

According to Musk, many remote schools, as well as hospitals, rely on Starlink Internet.

Previously, Brazilian media reported that Starlink accounts in Brazil were frozen due to the absence in the country of a legal representative for the social network X, also owned by Musk. X said it refuses to comply with the court’s “illegal orders” and expects to be blocked in Brazil.

Musk himself claims that the social network X, which he owns, and the company Starlink, which is part of SpaceX, are two legally different companies, so the decision of the Brazilian court to freeze the accounts of the latter is illegal.
