Mysterious child deaths in Türkiye: 10 clinics closed, 22 people arrested

The head of the Turkish Ministry of Health, Kemal Memişoğlu, announced that 10 clinics were closed as part of the investigation carried out by the prosecutor’s office into the group of criminals who caused the death of more than 20 children.

Oku.Az reports that “Anadolu” published information about it.

According to him, 22 people have been arrested and more arrests are possible.

The scandal over maternity hospitals in Türkiye emerged after articles published in the local press this week. The prosecution presented to the court the accusation against 47 people, who are expected to be sentenced to between 10 and 589 years in prison.

According to the Minister of Health, Turkish authorities received the first sign of fraud in maternity hospitals in March 2023.

“We worked in strict secrecy, we tried to prevent the transfer of babies to clinics. 41 people were detained, 22 of them arrested and 10 hospitals closed,” Memishoglu said.

It should be noted that the criminals forced parents to take their newborn babies to private clinics under various pretexts and took money from these clinics. In these medical institutions, newborns do not receive adequate care, which in some cases causes the death of the children.
