It is not completely excluded that this year the days of German literature in the language will be the last, on this 49th year, also shortly before the big anniversary, the 100th anniversary of the namesake Ingborg Bakhmann. The literary course for youth has already become a victim of dictating savings. Klagenfurt went bankrupt, according to the current reports, the city is located shortly before insolvency.
That is why the jury chairman Klaus Castberger sent greetings to the city administration on his last speech on Sunday, wished Clagenfurt “an economically successful year.” At the opening, Castberger already warned the measures of strict savings in the cultural sector, when the smallest was supposed to be received.
Nevertheless, the Castberger’s appeal may have been impossible to consider the right to the rights to radicals of right -wing anesthesia. The mayor praised Klagenfurts, Christian Shader (a non -partisan, earlier FPö and the Carinthia team), at the beginning of the competition, Bakhmann award for his “cultural diversity” as a “mirror of society” in speech, which, of course, should his phrase more artificial instead of human intelligence.
People and their words are inscribed in the ground
Natasha Gangle illustrated that the inheritance in right -wing extremist ideas in Austria. Its text “Yes -Stoy”, which was awarded the Ingeborg Bakhmann Awards and the Audience Award, is devoted to the history of Writing, where the boundaries of three countries are found, and in linguistic virtuosity will experience the lines of fascist activities during national socialism. People and their words registered in the ground, they literally rise as soon as someone finds it on him, now they are in the room if you want to see them.
Gangle combines the most artistic dialect and massacre, water and Wehrmacht with each other: “We-aa-Judal, go?” One asks alone. “Wine-stondn-o?”, Another. From the Jews there? Who interviewed there? The jury was full of praise to the author and the audience, thanks to the continuing applause, the difficulty that it could hear a possible victorious text here.
Almost a little expected that the German radioograd for Boris Shumatski, who made a text text about life between Moscow and Berlin, which was impressive that the jury was unlikely to have passed the Schumatsky from recent political events.
There is no price for the removed
It is a pity that the text of the material could not take the jury for himself, whose reading knew how to convince in recovery and literacy and proposed a pleasant opposite pole for a more loud candidate: inside. It should also be noted that in the discussion of the jury transsexuality the protagonist was a problem, but it is unlikely that they were clearly called. At that moment when one of the numbers mentions large scars on the forearm, the jury was supposed to be sure that this indicates an attempt to suicide.
At first, Thomas Straissle noted that the size and position of the scar can rather be based on a phalloplastic surgery on gender conversion, but also did not want to enter it in more detail and did not take it out. It seemed that the jury decorated itself a little to completely devote itself to the topic. Unfortunately, it seems that this was also missed from the literary quality of the text of matter.
At a time when the trance of people can no longer be confident in their skin in many Western industrialized countries, such texts as an expression of the question of which literature makes it indispensable in the present: to find out the universal truth about the description of subjective experience, which emphasizes the differences and fragments and find unity and create them together.
A sign of helplessness
Most of the time they went to each other friendly, respectfully in the jury, which consists of the same participants as in the previous year. It was different, especially Philip Tingler, sometimes imitating Maxim Biller, the arrogant person made members of the jury and the author: inside. Also opposite Mita Sanyal, Tingler published a big critic in places, she pushed several times.
In case of sharp criticism in a verbal style, other jury members will also record deductions. Categories of skill were used almost as often as aesthetics. A sign of helplessness can, given the rather weak year if you want to return to the language of winemakers at the moment. “He worked cleanly” – this is a lot, as if the work of a carpenter was evaluated, for example, the artistically cut leg of the chair, as a result of which the chair as such would not meet the requirements of your own living room. Where is the courage to be a general judgment?
Even if the jury: inside the presented texts of their reactions are in no case spontaneous, an open scene, the publicly accessible criticism of the Bakhmann award is important. The jury also emphasized several times in Clagenfurt: inside, that the discussion about the texts, despite all points of view, showed new prospects.
The agreements are opaque, otherwise the processes for making decisions are usually for prices. Finally, this became clear in the debates about the International Literary Prize, which was allocated by former jury members in 2023, rather for identification policy, rather than literary criteria.
Debats about Bluezsky
As Thomas Straissle explained on Sunday, the jury no longer lose the words about texts and the author: inside. The situation differs from the left liberal clone on the Bluesky Twitter, where the debate continues even after the reading is closed. It was here that the devoted community #TDDL emigrated from the undivided Twitter/X and leads the discussion with hot and actually, sometimes in memes.
And this, in turn, also influenced the jury’s discussions, because, according to only the castberger, Castberger has ten accounts on social networks and was not only the subject of detailed, but also fashionable discussions.
Literature and literary criticism is almost a touch. And he concentrates a lot in this Austrian, Mediterranean city on the extreme land of German countries. These are the same points of the meeting as all frequent animals, author: of course, you can find in floating trunks on Lake Viertersi.
Do not use imagination as a weapon
Similar to other literary competitions, this year a turn to the subjects of the insides was recorded. Many first-person storytellers: inside, in Clagenfurt, maneuvered through more and more difficult for understanding the world, in which the news hours much exceed the capabilities of the person-who is a person. An example of this is the text of Almut Tina Schmidt, who was awarded the 3sat at her text about life in rental barracks.
The jury Nora Osagobiobares also found a difficult relationship between her father and daughter (Kelaga Award). Tara Meister received a scholarship for the writer of the Festival of the summer classic Classical Festival of Karinfyan, who was awarded the lyrical language.
Unlike many texts, Nava Ebrachimi dealt with the influence of crises on each person in her speech by Clagenfurt. Nevertheless, Ebrachimi was able to add only the general hopelessness, which has long spread among many intellectuals.
General cruel soil still has a counterweight, still exist from blind militarism and anti -intellectual tribe, or, as borrowed from Ebrachimi with Ursula K. Le Guin, people for whom “imagination is not weapons, but depends on whether weapons are used or laid down.” This is a speech that, as we hope, will survive the Bakhmann award after its alleged cancellation.
