He also thanked the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation for the attention and apologized for the unsuccessful performance at the Paris Olympics.
“We all worked together and today’s successful result is the result of our joint efforts. I apologize to the people of Azerbaijan and the fans for our poor performance at the Olympic Games. We only managed to win one medal, but we expected more. At that time the injuries seriously hampered us. Then we will pay special attention to the Olympic weight categories. We have worthy athletes and we can create serious competition at the world level. I think we will be able to please our fans at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles,” said the expert.
It should be noted that Greco-Roman wrestlers from Azerbaijan who participated in the world championship in non-Olympic weight categories held in Tirana, the capital of Albania, returned home. Ulvu Ganizade who competed in the 72kg category, Nihat Mammadli in the 63kg category and Eldeniz Azizli in the 55kg category won gold medals in the competition.
