NATO cools the invitation to Ukraine that Zelensky includes as a priority in his “victory plan”

Volodymyr Zelensky presented his EU and NATO allies with the “victory plan” which he presented to his country’s Parliament on Wednesday. But the response I received in Brussels was colder than on other occasions. The Secretary General of the Atlantic Alliance, Mark Rutte, cooled the invitation to Ukraine to join the club and that it appears as a priority of the plan presented by the president of this country, who assured that Beyond support in the battle area, these types of measures would be a boost for a people approaching the third year of war.

“Russia took advantage of the geopolitical uncertainty caused by Ukraine’s non-membership in NATO. Now, an immediate invitation to Ukraine to join NATO would be decisive,” Zelensky told European leaders. “Of course, accession will come later,” said the Ukrainian president, aware that the path towards the Atlantic alliance is complicated by the suspicions currently aroused by enlargement towards the East, but above all by the impossibility of incorporating a country at war.

NATO itself coldly accepted this proposal. “The question is when, I can’t answer it now,” Rutte admitted upon arriving at the organization’s headquarters in Brussels before attending a meeting with defense ministers. What the new alliance leader assured was that “Ukraine’s path to NATO is irreversible.”

Thus, he explained, work is underway on “means” allowing “Ukraine to one day become a member of NATO”, such as the provision of bilateral aid or progress in matters of interoperability.

“The first step towards world war”

At a press conference in which he was not accompanied by European leaders Charles Michel and Ursula von der Leyen, as has happened on other occasions, Zelensky warned that 10,000 North Korean troops were ready to join Vladimir’s troops. “This is the first step towards a world war,” the Ukrainian president said of the involvement of a second country in the attack, in addition to citing the help Russia is receiving with drones from the ‘Iran.

As part of his plan for victory, Zelensky proposed that the Ukrainian army replace the troops that countries like the United States have deployed in Europe: “After this war, we will have hundreds of thousands of soldiers with the modern combat experience. Team. And we propose to support their forces with ours by replacing certain American contingents with our soldiers, notably in Europe or wherever we agree, thus allowing the United States to do more in its priority regions, in the ‘Indo-Pacific or elsewhere. “But for that we must of course win,” he told European leaders.

He also asked them to approve “as quickly as possible” the loan of a maximum amount of 35 billion euros to which they committed within the framework of the G7, but which Hungary vetoes because it opposes the extension of the freeze on Russian assets, which would be used to finance the loan.
