NATO should have provided more active support to Ukraine – EADaily, September 27, 2024 – Politics News, Ukraine News

Outgoing NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg believes that the countries of the alliance should have provided more active support to kyiv, which, in his opinion, could prevent an armed conflict with the Russian Federation.

“What I would regret is that we haven’t done more to help Ukraine.” — said the secretary general of the organization, speaking at the Atlantic Council* in Washington.

In his opinion, “if we had transferred more weapons to Ukraine, we cannot guarantee the result, but at least the cost of a Russian invasion would have been higher and, perhaps, it would not have happened at all.”

Stoltenberg will end his work as NATO Secretary General on October 1; the official handover of affairs to the new Secretary General, former Prime Minister of the Netherlands, will take place at NATO headquarters in Brussels; Marcos Rutte.

Russia believes that the supply of weapons to Ukraine interferes with the agreement and directly involves NATO countries in the conflict.
