Navarre begins on Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccination campaign of this season for babies born between September 1, 2024 and January 31, 2025 – about 2,200, according to estimates from the Institute of Public and Labor Health of Navarre (ISPLN)-. RSV is the leading cause of hospitalization for respiratory infections in children under 12 months during the fall-winter season, and is the cause of 90% of cases of bronchiolitis. RSV vaccination reached 87% coverage for those born between October 1, 2023 and January 31, 2024. Vaccination effectiveness, as highlighted by the ISPLN, was 88.7%, preventing 77 admissions.
